Rawson Homes takes home 2014 MBA National Housing Award!
Our team are so excited to announce that our Huntley home design has been recognised for it’s brilliance yet again at the 2014 MBA National Housing Awards held on Friday, 21st November at Parliament House, Canberra. Bringing home the award for best display home in it’s category on a national level is a huge achievement for our team here at Rawson Homes.
It has been a great year for this design taking out both 2014 MBA awards in it’s category and nationally and Display Home of the Year for the 2014 NSW HIA awards program. Fingers crossed we can do it again for the HIA Nationals due to occur in May 2015.
Our design process for each home can be lengthy and to ensure that this design was big on space and functionality in each and every element we did go a few rounds before we finalised the result. There is nothing like working with passionate people who know their stuff.
This is where experience counts, Geoff Baughan our team manager worked very closely with Peter and Lawrie Rawson and General Manager Martin Apap all with many years under their belts building exceptional homes to create a home for today’s living.
Our team work initially with a variety of architect’s to ensure we are creating market leading products. Our brief to them and aim from what they deliver in return is to provide us with a unique initial concept. Sometimes this focuses on just the façade, a master suite or creating an amazing living space. Sometimes it is all of these things combined.
We then take that concept and design the affordability in, it is pulled apart by our team of 6 key persons (5 of whom are builders in their own right) so that we can ensure what comes to market will be feasible for the potential new home owner to purchase, however still bringing the original concept to light and enabling the architectural flair to stand out as that is what makes it unique.
The Huntley on display was designed to suite a 13.5 metre wide narrow block, though this design is perfect for even narrower opportunities.
This is a dynamo. Space for all was the motto and it certainly works here.
Judges Comments: “This is a well thought-out and planned home. It uses space simply and effectively with no wasted areas. The living spaces are light and airy. The kitchen, pantry, and outdoor spaces are extremely usable and the design provides for maximizing the use of the rear yard. It is a well finished and designed home. Congratulating Rawson Homes on such an outstanding achievement, HIA’s NSW Executive Director, David Bare, said the awards were a tremendous display of the housing industry’s capacity and innovation.”
Our interior designer Julia Johnson takes you through some styling tips on how she created this look for our winning design the Huntley display home at the Ponds.
“This contemporary designer home is all about fresh white walls and neutral light colours which are the base of bringing a feeling of space and natural light throughout. Minimal Scandinavian style with light oak furnishings along with light linen sofas with a colour palate of caramel, stone and misty grey emphasize the contemporary look.”
Julia also recommends that when accessorising a home like this you can have some fun by adding items with a bit of character such as antlers or horns sitting next to a stack of books on a coffee table.
To create a final touch to this home Julia decided on textured fabrics, dark camel, leathers and cow hide add to the modern Scandinavian feel.
