Area Profile: Spring Farm

On the east side of the Nepean River, in the Macarthur Region, lies Spring Farm; an area which until recently was mainly farmland - but is now part of the thriving South West growth corridor, with still-affordable land being snapped up fast. Riverside Playground

Riverside Playground in Spring Farm took three years to complete, and has it all. In-ground trampolines, epic climbing structures, slides, swings - oh, and TWO flying foxes! Green open spaces (perfect for some competitive family footie), BBQ facilities, pathways to ride your bike round the lake - we could go on. So if your kids (or you - let’s face it, it’s hard to say no to a whiz down a flying fox) fancy a day out, this option is right on your doorstep.

Nepean River - Bents Basin

Less than 45mins away from Spring Farm you’ll find Bents Basin. Featured in Concrete Playground’s ‘Ten best rivers for swimming in near Sydney’, this idyllic spot on the Nepean River boasts one of the deepest swimming holes in NSW. Bring your lilo and chill out on the still water, launch yourselves off the 4m rock jump, or spend the day riding down the rapids (yes, rapids!). You can even make a weekend of it, pitching a tent in the campsite less than 700m away.

Menangle Aussie Night Markets

On the 2nd Saturday of every month, be sure to make the short 20 min drive to Menangle to check out the Aussie Night Markets. Originally started in Blacktown, the markets have been so popular that they now take place all over Sydney and surrounds, centering mainly around food with stalls offering delicious treats from all over the world. There’s also art, health & beauty and toy stalls, plus amusement rides and carnival games. They’re open from 5pm - 10pm, so come along - bring the family and an appetite!

The Beer Shed (Adults Only!)

A fun and hands on experience for the beer lovers among us, The Beer Shed offers the opportunity to brew your own beer! With the professionals there to guide you, there’s no chance you’ll end up with some dodgy home-brew style concoction, and with a 200-strong ‘Beer Menu’ to choose from you can customise your brew to suit your taste. Learn about and experience all the different stages of brewing, including fermentation, filtering, carbonation and - the piece de resistance - bottling your masterpiece!
